Soap Nut Solutions

New in to our shop today are three fabulous, brand new Soap Nut products.

Now I mostly use soap nuts to do my laundry and usually put 5 or so nuts in a little bag or old pop-sock and pop it in the machine along with the dirty clothes.  I have made soap nut liquid detergent – which actually makes them last even longer – by boiling up 50g of soap nuts with about 1L of water and then letting it simmer for 20 mins.  You strain off the solution and put it in a bottle.  Then I use it as any other laundry detergent.

Handwash,

The soap nut formula is very gentle for hands and is infused with Aloe Vera and anti-bacterial essential oils to keep your skin soft and protected.  Only 100% natural plant and mineral based ingredients.  It is also considered by current users not to inflame eczema which is great news.

For those who like to know these things, here is the ingredient list:-  Aqua, potassium cocoate, aloe barbadensis extract, sapindus mukorossi extract, cocamide dea, glycol stearate, honey, cocamidopropyl betaine, pelargonium graveolens (geranium) leaf oil, triticum vulgare (wheatgerm) oil, phenoxyethanol, citronellol, geraniol, limonene, citral.

The product’s skin-friendly natural formula is infused with an uplifting blend of neroli and geranium essential oils. With no-nasty chemicals and 100% plant and mineral based ingredients you can feel good about using this around even the most sensitive skins.

For those that want to know the ingredients are:-  5- 15% non ionic surfacent, less than 5% an-ionic surfacent. Also contains phenoxyethanol, limonene, linalool, citrollol, geraiol. Contains geranium and neroli oil.

‘Poo Free? Soapnut Shampoo Bars could be the answer

Going ‘Poo Free’ seems to be a real trend at the moment – people are not using commercial (synthetic) shampoos and their hair is feeling all the better for it.

Some people go for broke and use nothing at all on their hair except for water – after a while the oils will balance out and your hair will become manageable and pleasant to look at and touch.

Others use a dilute solution of baking soda with a dilute vinegar rinse and again, it may take a couple of weeks for the natural oils to balance and leave your hair looking good.

However, if you want to avoid the commercial shampoos with their oil-stripping detergents and other chemicals that may irritate the scalp, but don’t fancy going cold-turkey on hair products, then one of our new Soapnut Shampoo bars could be the answer.

These lovely bars are made with Soapnuts and a variety of plant-based oils and essential oils.  All three can be used on both the hair and the skin:-
